Building works are progressing well at Grimsby’s new pet crematorium, which will be the first in the region.
North East Lincolnshire Council are appealing to the public to help them agree on a suitable name for the facility via their Facebook page.
Current suggestions include Peaksfield Meadows Pet Crematorium, Treasured Memories Pet Crematorium and Tranquil Gardens Pet Crematorium.
The pet crematorium will be next to the existing crematorium, with a completely separate entrance.
Currently, there are only a small number of nearby pet crematoriums in operation.
None of these are in our area, meaning this new development will be an opportunity to provide a much sought after facility that the local community can easily access.
According to the council, any income generated by the pet crematorium will be used to re-invest in service provision.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, said:

“I’m really pleased that works have started on this facility.

“For many pet owners, their animals are their best friends, and it’s important that we recognise this and have somewhere local that pet owners can go to say farewell after their pets have passed away.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank local residents, funeral directors and visitors to the site for their patience whilst these works are underway.”

Works are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
