Works set to begin in Waltham

Drainage maintenance works are scheduled to begin in Waltham, North East Lincolnshire Council have announced.

Alongside regeneration partner, ENGIE, the council are planning to carry out the works on a section of Cheapside, close to the Cheapside Training Ground.

Works are set to begin on Monday 2 November.

They are expected to take three days to complete.

This comes after engineers identified a series of problems with the flow of water from the road into nearby driveways and front gardens during periods of heavy rainfall.

The main cause of this is thought to be the height of the dropped kerbs which were re-aligned in a previous resurfacing scheme.

The issue had been further heightened by vehicles parking on the grass verges affecting the drainage effectiveness.

According to the council, maintenance work will re-establish the appropriate kerb height and install measures to support the drainage effectiveness on the nearby grass verge to address the flooding issues.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place between 9am and 4pm each day.

Resident access will be maintained at all times throughout the works.

The works will be managed and overseen by the council’s partner, ENGIE, with contractor, EC Surfacing Ltd, carrying out the works.
