Two schools in Grimsby and Cleethorpes have reported positive cases of coronavirus and have been force to send children home.

Ormiston South Parade Academy in Grimsby and William Barcroft Junior School in Grimsby have both sent ‘bubbles’ of children home today after two pupils tested positive at each school.

Those with whom they have come into close contact have been instructed to self-isolate for a period of 14 days

In line with advice from Public Health England, both schools remain open to all other pupils.

Parents of children in the relevant bubble at William Barcroft were informed about the situation via email.

It reads:

“We are writing to inform you that a child in our school community has tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19).

“This child has come into close contact with your child’s ‘bubble’ and, following advice from Public Health England, we are required to close your child’s bubble for 14 days.”

Discussing the situation at her school, Principal of Ormiston South Parade Adademy Kate Stewart wrote:

“Following two pupils testing positive for COVID-19, and having closely consulted with Public Health England, a select number of individuals are now self-isolating as a precautionary measure.

“As a result of the various robust safety measures we have in place at the school, including increased hygiene and cleaning procedures, staggered school days and the implementation of one way systems across the school site, and strict social bubbles and social distancing, we have been able to act immediately to identify those who need to self-isolate as a precaution to help limit any transmission of the virus.

“The school is safe to remain open to all other pupils and we will be continuing to work closely with Public Health England and other local experts to ensure we are taking all the necessary precautions to help safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of our whole school community.”

An undisclosed number of children are now in isolation.
