Reliability Manager – Data Centre Solutions – EMEA
Overview
The Reliability Manager administers and manages the processes and technologies underpinning our reliability culture and our commitment to operate globally-consistent, world class data centres for our Clients. They guide, motivate and develop the technical workforce across the EMEA region in all aspects of critical engineering within data centres and will coordinate high risk works through a change management process. The Reliability Manager advises the Data Centre Critical Facilities Managers about technical issues and recommends engineering solutions to solve building systems problems.
CBRE’s Data Centre Solutions is the only global full-service data centre service provider. The role reports directly to the leader of the CBRE Data Centre Solutions line of business in EMEA and to the CBRE Data Centre Solutions Chief Reliability Officer. Travel is essential as the Reliability Manager role is regional. There will be occasions where unsociable hours are required in order to support our Clients requirements or business needs such as shut downs, incident management and transitions. This is an excellent role for an experienced critical environments professional who is looking to take the lead role in technical leadership for the world’s largest data centre outsourcing provider. As such the Reliability Manager will also be encouraged to participate in thought leadership in the data centre industry.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the CBRE Data Centre Solutions Chief Reliability Officer on the development and deployment of our Reliability and Innovation roadmap
Support the development of the DCS Reliability Strategy and the move to condition based monitoring, decision based maintenance and increased IoT and monitoring solutions
Deliver our Critical Environment Risk Management programme training and manage the audit and governance programme for all accounts in region
Report to CBRE Data Centre Solutions leadership on the overall health and compliance of the data centres in the region
Host Critical Works Calls to ensure high risks works are well planned and prepared
Lead the internal EMEA Reliability Champions Network to ensure best practices from around the globe and region are appropriately shared and cascaded
Support CBRE Data Centre Solutions bespoke Human Factors training. Support individuals working towards chartered or equivalent status
Establish relationships with our Clients based on trust and hold relationships with prominent OEM providers
Participate in certain transition activities as data centres are transitioned to CBRE. Undertake due diligence inspections to assess data centre health
For high risk maintenance activities conduct quality spot checks on change control documents, switching schedules, risk assessments, back out plans, weather/other dependencies and Technicians certifications.
Offer advice and guidance to colleagues and clients on OPEX and CAPEX projects
Regularly review new risks, near misses and incidents. Participate in and review root-cause- analysis reports for critical asset failures
Investigate technical or statutory non-compliances
Provide health and safety guidance to Technicians undertaking maintenance tasks
Provide guidance and advice to the Data Centre Critical Facilities Managers for technical building services infrastructure issues
Attend and assist with scenario training drills and provide feedback to ensure our site teams are always ready and improving
Keep up to date with data centre industry innovations and best practices and incorporate them into our operational delivery
Actively participate in the regional EMEA Data Centre Solutions leadership and Chief Reliability Officer’s teams’ meetings
Candidate Qualifications
Experience
Extensive experience in data centres, ‘mission critical’ facilities or industrial plant operations and maintenance
Extensive knowledge and expertise in central building plant architectures and an intimate knowledge of reliability engineering techniques used in data centres and/or communications facilities
Knowledge of the DCS Converged model and an understanding of Technology Services
Ability to read electrical & mechanical drawings, wiring schemes and control diagrams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on technical and engineering documents
Ability to diagnose problems in building support systems and make recommendations for solutions in a multi-vendor environment
Broad knowledge of contemporary data processing and networking environments with detailed knowledge of at least one specific product or service
Understanding of low voltage wiring techniques in respect to networking, telecommunications, signalling, and control systems
A demonstrated track record of effective problem-solving capabilities
Experience in utility management and energy conservations
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is desired
Strong PC skills, familiar with several CMMS / BMS / SCADA / DCIM platforms and proficient in MS Office applications
Moderate understanding of electronic data communications, digital processing techniques and computer hardware architectures
Membership in professional engineering or facilities management organizations is desired
Ideally have a reliability certification (CMRP/CRL) and DC certification (CDCTP or similar)
