Penguin thief targets Grimsby market
A selfish thief has picked up two penguins from Grimsby Top Town Market’s Christmas display.
The festive scene had only recently been installed and was designed as a boost to traders and shoppers during a difficult time.
Police have been informed.
“We can confirm that unfortunately two penguins were stolen from Grimsby Top Town Market’s Christmas display which was only recently put up ready for Christmas,” said a North East Lincolnshire Council spokesperson.
“It is really disappointing that these have been stolen at a time when the local traders on the market are currently going through another challenging time during this second lockdown, following a difficult year for them and all businesses in the area.
“We have logged the incident with the police who are looking into it.
“We would appreciate their safe return and hope those who took them will do the right thing.”
