Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe dies after testing positive for Covid-19
Peter Sutcliffe, the serial killer serving a whole-life term for murdering 13 women across Yorkshire and north-west England, has died aged 74 after testing positive for Covid-19.
Sutcliffe was convicted in 1981, and spent three decades in Broadmoor Hospital, a high-security psychiatric hospital in Berkshire, before being moved in 2016 to HMP Frankland in County Durham.
Sutcliffe died in hospital where he reportedly refused treatment for Covid-19. He had a number of underlying health conditions.
Speaking to journalists, former police officer Bob Bridgestock, who worked on the hunt for the serial killer, said he “won’t be shedding any tears”.
