Virtual Christmas markets bring festive fun
Virtual Christmas markets are taking social media by storm this year in a bid to support local businesses.
Several Facebook groups have been created in the local areas where people can find anything from home-made soaps, to lavender scented felt houses, to hand-made glass creations, hand-made jewellery and much more.
This online movement comes after nation-wide disappointment due to Christmas markets up and down the country being cancelled due to Covid-19.
Many of the virtual Christmas markets have adopted the stall holder approach and have allocated each local business a stall number which you will find upon browsing the virtual markets.
Supporting your local businesses is more important now than ever, you’ll even end up with unique, beautiful and fun gifts along the way!
Kate Louise, admin and creator of ‘Cracking Christmas Virtual Market!’ said:
“Usually at this time of year I really enjoy visiting Christmas Markets and finding lots of unique gifts for friends and family”.
“I’d seen a few other virtual markets around and thought it would be a good opportunity to start something similar in my home town of Barton upon Humber. I roped some friends in to help me organise it!”
“I appreciate how hard it is for small businesses at this time and I wanted to support them and the community by offering them a market they could shop from in the comfort of their own homes!”
“Im hoping it will also help to bring the fun and spirit of Christmas to people whilst they can’t get out and about like they normally would at this time of year”.
“It’s really unfortunate that so many Christmas events have been cancelled and I really hope that this event supports small local businesses and also brings a sense of community”.
“We have a fantastic collaboration of local artisans and businesses working together to offer people a wide variety of products which will hopefully help to make their Christmas shopping a little easier!”
