New gin supports Cleethorpes RNLI after Covid causes drop in charity’s income
A new gin has been named after the first lifeboat to be launched off Brighton Slip in Cleethorpes and will raise money for the resort’s RNLI.
People Bar and Kitchen in Cambridge Street, Cleethorpes, has annnounced the launch of its new gin in association with RNLI Cleethorpes.
“It’s been a long time coming this, an idea born over a year ago but I’m sure you can forgive us with everything that’s gone on,” announced the venue on social media.
“Made in collaboration with our superb partners Bottomley Distillers best known for their award winning Pin Gin and named after the first ever lifeboat launched off Brighton Slip back in 1868.
“Manchester Unity tells the story of how Cleethorpes came about this state of the art lifeboat and with 20% of sales going directly to RNLI Cleethorpes we hope does our collective bit to protecting the past, present and future stability of these heroes.”
People Bar and Kitchen has 100 bottles in batch one to sell, meaning a potential donation of more than £600 to the local RNLI.
Cleethorpes RNLI is also asking for donations to its Christmas appeal – reminding people that it’s particularly important after “plummeting” income and the extra expense of buying PPE this year.
A spokesperson said: “Our families may miss us when we have to leave, but your donations keep us safe until we return.
“We’ll be on call throughout the festive period, as always, taking extra steps to keep ourselves, and those we help, safe from Covid too. At the same time as our income plummeting this year, we’ve faced the extra expense of buying PPE.
“That’s why the RNLI Christmas Appeal is so very important to us this year.”
There is a ‘Donate’ button on the charity’s Facebook page.
