Oasis Community Hub makes over 100 hampers to help most vulnerable families

Oasis Community Hub, South Grimsby, has made over 100 Christmas hampers to help the most vulnerable families in the area.

Volunteers and staff at Oasis Community Hub, South Grimsby, are working all out to make 100 Christmas Hampers for local families in the Nunsthorpe, Bradley Park and Grange areas of South Grimsby who are finding it hard to make ends meet.

The Community Hub received funding of £1,000 from Greggs National Breakfast Scheme plus donations of food from food poverty charities Fare Share and HIS Church.

Fifty local families will receive hampers this week and again on Christmas Eve. Local organisation, the Blue Light Brigade, have offered to deliver the food parcels.

Michelle Donner, the Community Hub Leader for the academies, said:

“We were delighted to get selection boxes for children from Cleethorpes Rotary Club and some fantastic toys, such as skateboards, helmets and headphones, from the ‘Toys4Joy’ charity”.

“We’ve had a food project here for a few years, but demand has now surged”.

“At least now people feel they can say openly ‘we are struggling’ whereas last year, families would have been embarrassed to ask for help with food”.
