Recycle with this festive singalong!

Recycle with this festive singalong!

Don’t send all your festive mess to landfill this Christmas – follow North Lincolnshire Council’s singalong guide to recycling your seasonal rubbish!

Deck the halls…
Christmas cards without glitter can be recycled in your burgundy bin.

…with boughs of holly
Holly, ivy and natural wreaths can go into your brown bin, which will be collected in January.

If you bought a tree with roots, plant it in your garden – if not, take it to your local Household Recycling Centre.

Tis the season….
To leave Christmas wrapping paper OUT of the recycling box – it contains too much foil and plastic to be recycled.

Instead, go easy on the sticky tape and use it again next year.

… to be jolly
Got a new Christmas jumper? Bag up your old one and any other unwanted clothes and take them to your nearest Household Recycling Centre, Community Recycling Centre or charity shop!

Finally, don’t forget to –

Eat….
More than half of food thrown out in the UK could be eaten, so clear space in the freezer and save those leftovers – who doesn’t love a turkey curry in January?

Drink…
Put your empties, with the caps on, in your kerbside box.

…and be merry
Too many presents? Squash your cans, cartons, plastic bottles and cardboard boxes so you can put more into your recycling bins and boxes.

And hang onto all those dead batteries to take to the Household Recycling Centre, or why not ask Santa for a battery charger next year?

From now until the end of February, Winter opening times are in effect at all eight Household Recycling Centres across North Lincolnshire.

Household Recycling Centres will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
