Cleethorpes Coastguard to the rescue!
After receiving a call at approximately 2:37pm on the 1st of January requesting assistance with the extraction of 2 young casualties that were stuck in mud in the creek at HMYC, Cleethorpes Coastguard raced to the scene.
If that wasn’t bad enough, the tide was rapidly coming in and had already reached the waist of the casualties.
Due to the fact the tide was coming in, RNLI Cleethorpes were also reportedly paged to provide safety cover for Cleethorpes Coastguard teams and assist with the rescue if necessary.
Working alongside Donna Nook Coastguard team and assisted by Cleethorpes Beach Safety, the team deployed two Coastguard Rescue Officers who quickly reached the casualties.
Despite working in difficult conditions, they managed to free the casualties who were then recovered ashore using a floating platform.
Both were medically assessed and returned to their parents.
Cleethorpes Coastguard is urging the public to be aware of their surroundings whilst walking on the beach.
In a post on social media, they stated:
“This goes to show how quickly a nice afternoon stroll can go wrong very quickly”.
“Please be aware of your surroundings”.
