Children’s centres in N E Lincs set to close
Children’s centres across North East Lincolnshire are set to close in bid to cut costs by the council.

Council chiefs are planning to close six family hub centres which provide support and resources for hundreds of the poorest families.
There are currently 12 Children’s Centres in North East Lincolnshire and some have day care places.
Several hubs are attached to schools and provide support to parents who can access a range of essential services which include food, health and financial advice.
Those due to close are Highgate in Cleethorpes, Immingham, Scartho and Strand on Grimsby’s East Marsh.
Many children’s centres strive for their central location in the neighbourhoods.
By being central this allows trained staff to work with and help priority case families closely and to provide support when needed most.
Broadway and Riverside are also proposed for closure.
Members of the cabinet will review the £169,000 savings per year as they hope to amend a financial shortfall in the council’s budget of £6million.
The report added: “There will be the opportunity to consider whether the accommodation could be re-purposed or if not, lead to a transfer to an adjacent Academy.”
Cabinet members assessed the agenda yesterday and confirmed half of the hubs in this area will close.
