Hirst Priory wins national wedding venue award!

‘It has been a rollercoaster ride since restrictions started in March 2020’

2020 was a total disaster for wedding industries due to the pandemic, but that didn’t stop local wedding venue Hirst Priory winning National Winner of The Wedding Industry Awards 2021, Best Historic Venue!

Hirst Priory is a Georgian country manor house near Crowle in North Lincolnshire. It had been a
private residence all its life until Hazel came along in 2014 with a plan to transform its tired façade
and overgrown grounds into a premier wedding venue. The ambition was always to be the best but
in the early days it seemed like it would take more than just six years to achieve.

Managing director Hazel Wheatley of Hirst Priory Wedding and Events Venue said “It has been a rollercoaster ride since restrictions started in March 2020, with many more downs
than ups. The Wedding Industry Awards are the pinnacle of our profession, so to be
awarded Best Historic Wedding Venue in the whole of the UK is breathtakingly wonderful.”

The National Wedding Industry Awards 2021

The TWIA National awards event was held on Thursday 14th January 2021. They normally take place
at the Café de Paris in London but this year the ceremony was streamed virtually online.

TWIA is the only regional and national client voted awards in the wedding industry. It was set up to
recognise excellent wedding suppliers and to help anyone organising a wedding find the best

At this point Hazel was watching the ceremony live in her living room with husband Kevin and
children Alex and Charlotte. She didn’t recognise the quote as they had been submitted directly to
the judges.

Hazel said “I said to my husband, I don’t think it’s us as the music played and the suspense built, then when they announced the winner was HIRST PRIORY, we all leapt in the air cheering wildly! My parents were watching with us on a video link, it was such a proud moment to share with them”.

The competition sets a very high bar, with finalists including some of the most recognisable stately
venues in the country. The votes and comments from the wedding couples themselves make the
difference, and Hirst Priory has an exceptional reputation for the quality of service provided.

There was an early success to celebrate as Doncaster based Serentipi, an important partner for Hirst Priory in the delivery of stunning outdoor wedding packages, collected the national award in the marquee
category. Hazel was delighted for her colleagues, and the tension mounted as the venue awards

“We simply love what we do. We get to share in all the love and joy with our couples as they make
plans and carry them through to their big day. My team and all our brilliant suppliers share a driving
passion to make it the best and happiest day possible.  Winning this national award with Hirst Priory is testament to the hard work of everyone involved and the love and support of couples who have shared such special events with us”.
