Europarc bridge plans to improve public transport

Plans have been submitted for a bridge to be installed connecting to the Europarc to improve public transport for commuters.

Concessionary bus pass fares to be reintroduced

Plans have been submitted for the bridge that will connect two key Grimsby business parks and reduce journey distances and times for commuters on the 1, 2 and 20 stagecoach bus services.

Existing bus routes will be re-routed if the plans go ahead and will save more time on journeys for commuters.

The planning application, which will be considered by North East Lincolnshire Council, reveals how the bridge will connect Europarc at Genesis Way with the Great Grimsby Business Park on Laforey Road.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras would be used to deter motorists trying to make a shortcut over the bridge to avoid the A180.

The existing cycle and pedestrian route will be upgraded and form part of the bridge.

Plans will be subject to funding being secured.

Huge seafood processing facilities dominate both parks, with Morrisons and Hilton Seafood (formerly Seachill) which hire thousands of staff members.

Together the facilities employ well over 3,000 people, with two soup production sites also located on the site.

Officers at North East Lincolnshire Council and ENGIE will use the planning application as a clear intention when discussing with funding bodies their commitment to delivering this scheme.
