Fewer than 50 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in northern Lincolnshire within the past 24 hours, data has shown.

On Sunday North East Lincolnshire, including Grimsby and Cleethorpes, saw 15 new cases.

North Lincolnshire, including Scunthorpe, saw 31.

NHS England sadly reported two deaths at local hospitals on Saturday, with one occurring on Thursday and one on Friday.

This brings the current number of local Covid-19 deaths to 391.

As of Sunday, no new coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in the regions hospitals.

662 people have sadly died across the UK, however none of those deaths occurred in hospitals under the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.

This new data suggests that people are abiding by the current lockdown restrictions and could mean the region avoids tough restrictions when it ends.

The update comes as vaccinations get underway at local hospitals and medical practices.

Speaking earlier this month, Peter Reading, chief executive at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, said:

“Across the country NHS staff are doing an incredible job to deliver what it is the largest vaccination programme in our history, at the same time as continuing to be there for everyone who needs care.

“We are proud to be playing our part in the national effort to protect people from this virus, however, we cannot let our guard down now and even those who have received a vaccine still need to follow the guidance around social distancing and hand hygiene.”
