It is reported the Health Secretary will address the nation at 5pm today.
It comes as almost nine million people in Britain have now received a Covid jab, meaning 17 percent of the adult population have been inoculated.
Mr Hancock is expected to detail the vaccination rollout and its progress, as the coronavirus lockdown continues across the country.
Number 10 has not yet revealed which experts will be joining the health secretary at the press conference.
NHS England’s primary care director Dr Nikki Kanani said in a statement: “I want to thank my colleagues, and everyone involved in the vaccine rollout for their extraordinary work in recent weeks, as it is because of their tireless efforts that millions of people have already been vaccinated, including hundreds of thousands of care home residents, and as a result we are a vital step further in our fight against Covid-19.”
Highest record of vaccines given on Saturday
Ministers are growing increasingly confident of hitting the target of vaccinating the 15 million most vulnerable people by mid-February after a record high of jabs on Saturday.
Reports say the Government has ordered an extra 40 million doses of the Valneva Covid-19 vaccine which is being manufactured in Scotland.
The move means 100 million doses of Valneva have now been put on order, enough for every adult in the UK, with the latest batch earmarked for delivery in 2022.
The Government has also retained options over a further 90 million doses for supply between 2023 and 2025.
