Cadbury To Relocate Dairy Milk Production From Germany To UK with £15m investment.

Kwasi Kwarteng, the UK Business Secretary described it as “a sweet piece of news”, as another 125 million bars of Cadbury Dairy Milk will then be manufactured in Birmingham, to add to the current annual output of 35,000 tonnes of chocolate.

Chocolate manufacturing giants, Cadbury, has announced its intentions of transferring the production of the iconic ‘Dairy Milk’ chocolate bar brand from the current factory in Germany to its main UK factory in Bournville, Birmingham, in 2022.

The owner of Cadbury is to bring more of its Dairy Milk production back to its historic Bournville factory.

Louise Stigant, UK managing director, Mondelez International, said: “At a time when manufacturing in the UK is facing significant challenges, it has never been more vital to secure the long-term competitiveness and sustainability of our business.

“We now have an opportunity at Bournville to further invest in its future as the home and heart of Cadbury by bringing more Cadbury Dairy Milk production to Bournville.”

It said it will increase the number of bars it makes at the factory near Birmingham as it launches a £15 million investment plan for the site.

The company, which also makes Oreo and Maynards Bassetts sweets, said £11 million of the funding will go towards creating a new production ‘line of the future’.
