Cleethorpes regeneration begins to take shape
The regeneration of Cleethorpes’ North Promenade is beginning to take shape, with innovative new furniture appearing in the last week.
According to North East Lincolnshire Council who commissioned the new furniture, the pieces have been installed for “a variety of activities including relaxation, exercise and contemplation”.
It has been designed by Freshwest, and is one of four planned instalments intent on regenerating the area.
Shop shutters have already been painted as part of an outdoor art installation.
Two other pieces, a ‘Luminations’ light artwork, and the 72ft White Palm tree, are yet to appear on the prom.
A total of 21 pieces of furniture are scheduled to be installed.
They are expected to become available for public use in the next few weeks.
The project has been funded by the Government’s Coastal Communities Fund, which awarded CoastNEL £3.8 million to enhance key areas of the resort.
