The Queen is urging people to have the vaccine

‘Trust the Queen’ Justice Secretary backs royal approval ‘She’s been right for 70 years’

Robert Buckland told Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway that the Queen has issued a message of national unity. The Justice Secretary added that Queen Elizabeth II has got it right for 70 years and continues not to put a foot wrong.

In a video call with health leaders delivering the Covid vaccine across the UK, the Queen was asked about her experience of having the jab.

She smiled as she replied: “Well, as far as I can make out it was quite harmless.

“It was very quick, and I’ve had lots of letters from people who’ve been very surprised by how easy it was to get the vaccine.”

The Queen, who rarely talks about her own health, added: “It didn’t hurt at all.”

The monarch said she understood getting a jab could be a “difficult” experience for some people but urged everyone to “think about other people rather than themselves”.

The Royal Family has taken an increasingly prominent role in publicising the campaign, returning to public engagements for the first time this year in order to visit vaccination hubs and speak to NHS staff and volunteers.

More than 18 million people have now had their first does of a Covid vaccine in the UK.

Meanwhile, 9,938 more cases and 442 deaths within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test have also been reported.
