Studio 7 Theatre Arts helping locals virtually through lockdown!

Studio 7 Theatre Arts has encourage children, young people and the wider community to get creative virtually through the pandemic

Lauren Blanchard, aged 25, has lived in Scunthorpe all her life and trained in dance at the Wendy Foster Theatre School.

At the age of 18 she went to train in Musical Theatre at performers college in Essex for 3 years and from there went onto perform professionally around the country.

Her favourite job has been appearing in the Scunthorpe Pantomime with Annie Fanny at the Baths Hall and will be returning this year in their performance of ‘Dick Whittington’.

Lauren said ‘I have been teaching at various dance schools and choreographing for the UK’s no.1 Lady Gaga tribute act since the age of 16 and always knew eventually I wanted to teach, I always thought I would be a little older when I decided I wanted to teach full time but I had the opportunity to rent a premises and couldn’t say no!

‘We opened the studio in October 2019 with around 15 students and have since grown despite the pandemic to having over 100 pupils. For me, this is more than I could have ever imagined with only been open for face to face classes for 8 months since opening.

She goes onto say, ‘our students have been amazing adapting to learning online. We give the students opportunities to take examinations in ballet, tap, modern and contemporary classes.

‘Our classes start from 2+ years and we have no age limit! We have classes in street dance, musical theatre for all children’s groups.

The girls can’t wait to get back in the studio!

Students are encouraged to express themselves but all whilst having fun and socialising and being inclusive in a relaxed environment.

Lauren continues ‘we also offer adult dance classes in Tap and Ballet along with our dance fitness being the most popular!

‘Most of our students are brand new to dance and have had very little experience, so students have been learning basic technique, working on our confidence and the studio has given the opportunity for children to train with industry professionals.

‘We’ve had classes with West End performers, along with our favourite pantomime Dame Annie Fannie.

‘When returning back to the studios, any new enrolments will receive 20% off classes for their first half term to encourage everyone to start moving again!
