Local resident has been making ‘pocket hugs’ to raise money for Scunthorpe Mind.
Joanne Jipson has been busy crocheting hearts to raise money for Scunthorpe Mind charity.
She said “The idea came to me after I received a wooden heart with a verse.
“Also I know a lot of people, myself included, who are struggling with not seeing people or having hugs. I chose Mind because they have been fantastic supporting me through Covid and other times in my life.
“They have adapted their services to ensure people are able to still access services including holding zoom quizes, bingo, zoom craft sessions.
“I am self taught and learnt to crochet from youtube. If someone wants to learn I would say watch a few different videos and find one that suits you and don’t give up! Bella Coco is a great one to get started.
Sadly, charities have been hit hard through the pandemic and people have had to adapt their way of raising funds.
Mind provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
Joanne has already reached her target of £100 which is remarkable. If you wish to donate please see the link below:
