Jobs available to local people at the 6 May Elections
North East Lincolnshire Council are looking to recruit a number of polling staff to work at the Thursday 6 May elections from 6:30am to 10:15pm.
The roles of Presiding Officer and Poll Clerk are available to those over 18 years of age who are entitled to work in the UK.
Under these roles, the successful candidates will be responsible for the conduct of the ballot in each polling station.
Presiding Officers are required to have a good knowledge of voting procedures and have worked as a Poll Clerk at least once before. They will be required to lift ballot boxes and polling station equipment. Vehicle access is essential.
Poll Clerks will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Presiding Officer and for recording and issuing ballot papers to electors.
The North East Lincolnshire Council elections are set to take place in 12 Wards – all wards except Waltham, West Marsh and Wolds – whereas the Police and Crime Commissioner election will be held in all wards.
Polling stations will have a combined poll if both elections are taking place there, and a single poll with only the Police and Crime Commissioner election.
Successful candidates will be required to attend an online training session, for which a £35 fee is payable.
The rates of pay for Presiding Officer is £220 (single poll) and £264 (combined poll).
For the Poll Clerk, rates of pay are £160 (single poll) and £192 (combined poll).
