Humberside Fire and Rescue supporting vaccine rollout

Great work by Humberside Fire and Rescue Services

Over the last month, Humberside Fire and Rescue staff have been supporting City Health Care Partnership (CHCP) with the vaccine rollout at the mass vaccination centre in Hull’s City Hall. Staff from various roles and sections across the Service have volunteered to play a part in the continued fight against COVID-19.

Most recently, more members of staff have helped Safecare Network with the setup of a mass vaccination centre at The Baths Hall in the heart of Scunthorpe, which is due to open from 19 March.

920 vaccines, 1586 hours and 2 million items of PPE and medical supplies delivered by Humberside Fire and Rescue.

These are the incredible figures that members of HFRS have so far achieved in supporting the national effort against COVID-19.

Set up at the beginning of the first lockdown to support the Local Resilience Forum (a multi-agency group involving heads of service in the healthcare, local government and emergency services sector); a sub group was formed to specifically look after the large task of handling all the PPE for the Humber region.

More on-call fire fighters needed

A campaign led by the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) is encouraging people step forward and explore the opportunities the Fire and Rescue Service can offer people who have a passion for working in and helping their local community by becoming On-Call firefighters.

Working as an On-Call firefighter means being involved in a wide range of activities in your local area from responding to emergency calls to carrying out work in local communities to support their needs or providing prevention advice to help keep them safe.

In return the fire service can offer flexible work to fit around study, work and family commitments, first class training and development opportunities and a chance to make a difference in your local community.
