Over 53k followers on instagram, husband-and-wife team Andy and Toni Robinson never expected their business to take off like it has!
The Cookie People is one of Scunthorpe’s most popular shops for anyone with a sweet tooth, so where did the idea come from originally?
Andy said ‘Toni decided she wanted a Kitchen Aid Mixer at home, but because they’re quite expensive, she decided to start making baked good to sell, in order for the mixer to pay for itself 😀
‘We initially set up the company with the help of our computer wizard friend, Jon, who helped create the logo back in 2015. We started selling at Farmers Markets, then with some items left over after on market, we put a post on Facebook for people to collect mixed boxes and it was really popular, so we started making it a regular thing and it went from strength to strength.
Toni went on to say ‘we sell everything and anything cookie based, so cookies, giant cookie slabs, cookie dough, blondies and brownies with cookie dough in or on top. We also do Cookie Stack Cakes when we can.
In the shop we also serve fresh coffee, hot chocolates, iced milks with loads of different flavours. In the summer we do a really popular Frozen Lemonade too! Our best sellers are our topped cookies, mainly the Biscoff cheesecake, Bday Cake or any seasonal special flavours.
The Cookie People have lots of exciting things planned for the future
Andy continued ‘we’re constantly growing, which is amazing, and with our online following, our website can sell out in minutes. So we have just employed a full time baker, and we’re hoping to get another team member part time to help with the packaging of our online orders.
We also have a factory in the pipelines to produce even more, and potentially a 2nd shop somewhere relatively local maybe Lincoln/Hull/York’
‘Just to head over to our instagram, Tiktok, Facebook and website to check us out, give us a follow if you don’t already :D’
