Humberside Police issue statement on easing of Covid-19 restrictions

Humberside Police’s Assistant Chief Constable, DCC Paul Anderson, has issued a statement on the easing of Covid-19 restrictions and what this means for the local area.

He said: “I understand that this past year has been a challenging time for many, a year unlike no other and I want to thank those in our Force area who are doing everything they can to prevent the spread of the virus.

Whilst the restrictions are easing, this is not a time to become complacent or to forget all of the hard work that has gone into the last few months.

Adhering to the guidelines and preventing the spread of the virus must remain as a top priority for everyone.

Where possible, we are asking for people to stay at home and the advice of staying local remains.

Our officers will be patrolling hot spot areas and they will be implementing our Engage, Explain and Encourage approach. We will not hesitate to use enforcement where we need to and where there are blatant breaches of restrictions.

We will have more foot patrols and resources out and about supporting our communities to stay safe and local officers will be there in greater numbers over the Bank Holiday period.

If you see our officers around, and if you have any concerns, please speak to our officers about this.

We are now in a much better position than we were at the start of the lockdown, as more and more people are being vaccinated, with a full roll out for all adults to be expected in the coming months.

We must continue to stick to the guidelines throughout this time to ensure the good health and safety of our Force area residents and to protect our National Health Service as they continue to work tirelessly through the pandemic.”
