Rishi Sunak pays a visit to Blackrow Engineering in Grimsby this morning
Rishi Sunak, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, paid a visit to Blackrow Engineering on South Humberside Industrial Estate in Grimsby this morning.
He met with workers who gave him a tour of the machinery used at the manufacturing plant, which has been established for more than 40 years.
Blackrow Engineering provides worldwide fabrication and engineering services to key sectors including food and pharmaceutical.
The firm is also responsible for building the iconic Hammy the Haddock recycling sculpture which sits proudly on Cleethorpes Promenade.
They’ve also constructed the new globe recycling structure for the North Promenade in the resort for North East Lincolnshire Council.
The Chancellor’s visit today comes in the wake of the super-deduction scheme for manufacturing firms which has been launched. Under the scheme, firms will get a new 130 percent first-year capital allowance for qualifying plant and machinery assets, along with a 50 percent first-year allowance for special rate assets.

With the super-deduction coming into effect from tomorrow, I visited @BlackrowGroup in Grimsby this morning to see how manufacturing companies can benefit from what will be the biggest two-year business tax cut in modern British history. https://t.co/6v77KAPfrV #PlanForJobs pic.twitter.com/q8Fmrx1pcR
