20-21 Visual Arts Centre: What’s on virtually?

North Lincolnshire’s leading venue for the contemporary visual arts has great virtual activities suitable for everyone!

20-21 Visual Arts Centre is known for it’s exhibitions, activities and events. Due to current ongoing Covid regulations they are currently closed to the public, but have a wide range online activities for all the family to enjoy this Easter break.

ARTivities has moved online in the form of instructions and downloadable templates and colouring sheets, and some new ideas from the Inspired Learning team.

This week you can create your own paper craft beetle, inspired by Melanie Tomlinson’s exhibition Ghost Horses and Guns, and the beautiful details in her works. It’s a simple make, with just three pieces to cut out, but very effective. Print a few out to different sizes and make a whole range of minibeasts.

Jerwood Photoworks Awards

You may have visited the Jerwood Makers Open exhibition at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre towards the end of last year.

Jerwood Arts are now looking for submissions to their Jerwood Photoworks Awards.

The awards are a major commissioning opportunity supporting UK-based early-career artists working with photography to make new work and significantly develop their practice.

It offers those selected a comprehensive package of support, including an artist fee and production budget, mentoring and curatorial support and a touring exhibition.

Join them online on 20 April, 1-2pm. Jerwood have invited two awardees from previous editions to share their experiences and offer a candid insight for artists who are thinking about applying this year. Alejandra Carles-Tolra and Silvia Rosi will reflect on the application and selection process, the reality of creating their commissions and the impact of the award on their practice.
