Enforcement officer assaulted by dog walker in Cleethorpes while issuing fine

An environment enforcement officer was assaulted on Cleethorpes beach on Easter Sunday whilst attempting to issue a fine to a dog walker.

This occurred while officers were out patrolling the area, during which they issued 67 fines in total to people walking their dogs on the beach.

A statement from North East Lincolnshire Council reads: “This is totally unacceptable and we will not tolerate violence, physical aggression or verbal abuse of officers working on our behalf.

“Humberside Police are investigating the incident under case number 16/37397/21.”

Dogs are no longer permitted on Cleethorpes beach between the Leisure Centre and Wonderland until 30 September.
