Exciting new artisan store and deli in Scartho granted full licence to operate

The new artisan store in Scartho, Thomas Greens, has been granted a licence which permits them to operate fully and sell alcohol by North East Lincolnshire Council.

Situated at 1A Waltham Road, the exciting new site opened to the public on 31 March, and combines a convenience store, deli, bakery and coffee shop into one.

The store has been selling alcohol under temporary event notices since opening, including local craft beers, premium spirits and wine which cannot be purchased anywhere else.

Following the success of Thomas Greens at Sea View Street in Cleethorpes, the decision was made to open a second store on the corner of the Louth Road and Waltham Road roundabout in Scartho.

The new store has partnered up with local bakery The Little Baker, offering cakes, breads and patisserie available to buy at the shop.

Lunchtime menus include paninis and sandwiches made with exclusive items from the delicatessen section, while the evening menu is based on a British tapas theme.

Other items available to buy at the store include artisan cheeses, cured meats, jams, chutnies and gluten-free food.

At a meeting yesterday, councillors deliberated over the application for the premises to supply alcohol from 8:00am until 11:00pm from Monday to Sunday.

Councillor David Hasthorpe said: “Having taken into account the representation from a member of the public and the representation of support, the committee are pleased to grant an application applied for as written. The committee also notes that there are no representations from responsible authorities.

“The power of review does of course exist should they not operate in a manner which promotes the licensing objectives. We note that Thomas Greens have been operating since 31 March and wish them success with their new venture.”

The venue has introduced outdoor seating for anyone wishing to eat or drink there following the lifting of the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.
