North Lincolnshire residents have been praised for sticking to guidelines

North Lincolnshire residents have been praised for sticking to the guidelines during the first week of restrictions being eased.

From last Monday local people could visit more shops, use personal services like hairdressers and have food and drink served to them outside.

The council’s licensing team and Covid Prevention Assistants have been out giving support and advice to local businesses and have been impressed with how businesses and the public have adapted to the new changes.

Steve Pintus, Director of Public Health, said “getting prepared to reopen has been a massive challenge for local businesses that have been closed for months. We have seen major investments in time and money to enable them to welcome people back safely.

“The vast majority of people have been sensible and cautious when visiting establishments. The weekend may bring more challenges, but with the virus still very much in the community, we need people to carry on with this approach.

“The vaccine take up in North Lincolnshire has been excellent. People aged over 45 can now book a vaccination on the NHS website. I would urge everyone eligible to sign up, it’s not too late if you were in the previous groups asked to come forward.

“We need to continue to use good hand hygiene, observe social distancing, wearing face masks when required and stick to the measures businesses have put in place to keep people safe.”

“We’ve developed a fully Covid-safe environment for guests to get together and enjoy a meal or a drink with friends and family.

“It’s been great to see customers return that we haven’t seen for such a long time and I am delighted that they are all following the rules we have in place to keep everyone safe.

“Full details are on our Facebook page and don’t worry if it gets a bit chilly as we have blankets, hand warmers and hot chocolate – with or without Baileys!”

Aimee Waudby, Owner of Kennedi Boutique, in Brigg, said,“We are so glad to be able to open after such a long lockdown. We have had such a fantastic response since opening our doors on Monday and there was such a sense of community spirit in the air.

Here at Kennedi we have all the safety measures in place and a nice open space to maintain social distancing. We have a diverse mix of ladies clothing including collections by Scotch & Soda , French Connection , Hilfiger , Fransa and our very own Kennedi Bespoke Label.”
