The government has confirmed plans to extend funding for an initiative launched by Hull City Council to help alleviate rough sleeping in the city.

The £110,000 grant from the Government’s Rough Sleeping Initiative will provide another three months of funding for an assessment hub in Hull.

It will also allow outreach workers to assess the needs of rough sleepers and help secure accommodation and support services.

The three month extension has been provided while Government processes the next round of funding for rough sleeper initiatives for the year ahead.

Hull City Council’s Assistant Director for Neighbourhoods and Housing. Nicholas Harne, said:

“This vital funding will enable us to continue to provide critical support for people at risk of sleeping on the streets.

“The assessment hub has played a pivotal role in tackling the complex needs of rough sleepers and the funding ensures we can continue to provide the support they need and deliver quick and personalised pathways that deliver sustained accommodation.”
