Renovations on the Disney Garden have started at Scunthorpe Hospital

Scunthorpe Hospital Disney Garden is being renovated thanks to local nurses in association with The Health Tree Foundation

Louise and Sam are nurses working on Ward 27 at Scunthorpe General Hospital and have set up a JustGiving page to raise funds to brighten up the gardens directly outside of the children’s ward in rememberance of Louise’s daughter, Hannah, who sadly passed away on 20th June 2013 in the Disney Ward.

By brightening the area up, painting benches, adding atmospheric lighting and beautiful flowers and plants, they hope to make this a peaceful and tranquil space that can be used to reflect when little ones may have passed away, and as an area of colour and hope for children being treated on the ward.

The Health Tree Foundation took to social media saying “we are so excited that work has started today on the Disney Garden at Scunthorpe! Woody is steam cleaning the pathways, getting them ready for the full refresh that we have planned!”

They hope to add wall murals, wind chimes and a pergola seating area to enhance the area and really bring it to life!

“We need your support to be able to make this happen, so please if you can, donate! Anything would be so appreciated!” Louise said.

“Thank you for taking the time to read our story. This cause is close to our hearts so if you have the time, please be so kind and help us to share this link with your friends and loved ones!” Sam added.
