Guy Martin takes to the skies in a Hawker Hurricane!

Lincolnshire daredevil and TV star Guy Martin hopes to break another record by taking to the skies in a Hawker Hurricane!

This won’t be the first time he has attempted this record, as he missed out on the feat on his show Speed with Guy Martin, where he managed to achieve 274.2mph.

He thanked a list of companies including B&B Motorcycles Lincoln in a social media post about the ‘300mph job’ on his official fan page, which he endorses.

He also praised the UK airfields that have allowed testing, as well as John Mcavoy and Simon Lee for documenting the build and runs so far.

Guy said: “2021 promises to be a year of answers to changes made and plenty of questions off the back of that, for the 300mph job.

“Ta very much to the following folk who have had a hand in the development of the tool.”

His new show, Guy Martin’s Battle Of Britain, starts tonight (Sunday 25 April) on Channel 4 at 9pm.

Guy began his training, under the watchful eye of experienced vintage display pilot Anna Walker, initially in a de Havilland Tiger Moth biplane, famed for its service during World War I.

The programme’s director, James Woodroffe, said: “This project was all about finding out whether Guy Martin could have made it as a Battle of Britain fighter pilot.

“We wanted to give Guy as authentic a training experience as possible, following a similar training programme to the RAF recruits of 1940 – so it was very special to be able to film at historic Duxford.

“Guy’s instructor Anna Walker put him through his paces in ‘Wacky Wabbit’, a well-known Harvard aircraft based at the airfield, which saw Guy learn his first combat manoeuvres.”
