Murder investigation launched following fatal stabbing on Freeman Street

A murder investigation has been launched after a fatal stabbing on Freeman Street outside the Freemans Arms pub last night.

A 36-year-old man was taken to hospital in an ambulance after suffering serious injuries during the incident, which took place just after 8.00pm last night.

A 27-year-old woman and a man have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Just a few hours after the victim arrived at hospital, he sadly passed away.

A statement from Humberside Police reads: “A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Grimsby.

“On Saturday 24 April at 8:09pm emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing outside the Freemans Arms on Freeman Street.

“A 36 year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance where he sadly died a few hours later. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

“A 27 year-old woman and a man have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

“A cordon and officers remain at the scene while enquiries are conducted.

“Those living in these areas will see an increased number of officers in the area over the coming days carrying out those further enquiries and providing reassurance. Please come and speak to those officers if you have any concerns.

“This is an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to members of the public.

“Anyone with any information, who has not yet spoken to us, should call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 631 of 24 April 2021.”
