Doncaster hit by spate of vehicle fires

Over the weekend, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue attended four vehicle fire incidents in Doncaster.
 
At around 3:30pm on Saturday 24 April, firefighters attended North Common Road in Thorne, Doncaster, after it was reported that a VW Passat car was on fire.
 
They left at 9:15pm.
 
Later that evening, three fire crews from Adwick and Doncaster stations were called out to a fire involving a caravan, van and LGV inside a building on High Street, Askern, Doncaster.
 
The crews left the scene at 10:15pm.
 
This was followed by reports that a Land Rover had been
set on fire at 1:55am on Sunday 25 April, on Ratten Row, Wadworth, Doncaster.
 
Firefighters tackled the blaze, and left the scene at 2:30am.

Firefighters from Edlington station also attended an accidental quad bike fire at 11:55am on Saturday, at Colliery Road, Denaby Main, Doncaster.

Five out of the six vehicles mentioned are thought to have been set alight deliberately – it is currently unknown whether the incidents are connected.

Across the region, a number of other vehicles were also discovered to have been targeted by arsonists, including two motorbikes and a van in Sheffield.
