Temporary new ambulance route into Grimsby Hospital up and running from today

As work on the new A&E department at Grimsby’s Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital continues, the temporary new ambulance route into the hospital has begun from today.

Ambulances will continue to come in from the Scartho Road entrance, but instead of going to the right of the car park, they will take the new road directly in front of the main hospital building.

Other changes at the hospital coming into force from today include the extension of the public car park next to the family services building, as well as the area where the new Emergency Department will go being completely fenced off.

Work has also started on the new single-storey decked car park outside the main hospital entrance, along with the demolition of the former IT building next to the Second Avenue entrance.

The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust website reads: “If you’ve visited Grimsby Hospital recently, you will see that preparatory work is already underway. As part of the build, we will be constructing a new single-storey deck public car park outside the main entrance, as well as extending the public parking provision around the Family Services building.

“The new decked public parking area will not only mean that no parking provision is lost as result of the improvement works we’re carrying out at our Grimsby site but that we can offer modern, sustainable facilities such as charging points for electric vehicles.

“When the works have been completed, there will be 33 additional parking spaces available on the site. Additional staff parking is also being created in the area behind the restaurant and on the site of the former IT building near the Second Avenue entrance to the site.”
