The victim of the fatal Rutland Street stabbing on Saturday evening has been named as 33-year-old Stephen Bellamy by Humberside Police.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 6.40pm, where Mr Bellamy was found with stab wounds to his head after he was reportedly stabbed with a garden fork.

He was taken to hospital in an ambulance in “critical condition”, but he sadly passed away two days later.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “On Saturday 24 April, 33 year-old (not 36 as previously reported), Stephen Fred Bellamy sustained fatal injuries in an attack on Rutland Street in Grimsby.

“Stephen was taken by ambulance from the scene of the attack to hospital where he sadly died from his injuries on Monday 26 April.

“Two men, Luke Teague (38) of Runswick Road, Grimsby and Stephen Beach (39) of Ashbourne Court, Scunthorpe have been charged with Stephen’s murder and appeared at Grimsby Magistrates Court today.

“Our sincere sympathies are with Stephen’s family at this very sad time.  His family has asked for privacy at this time to come to terms with their loss and to grieve in peace.”

Our thoughts go out to Stephen’s family and friends during this difficult time.
