Council issue guidance for people planning to visit the tip this bank holiday weekend

North East Lincolnshire Council have issued guidance for people who are planning to visit the Community Recycling Centres in Grimsby or Immingham this bank holiday weekend.

A council spokesperson said: “Grimsby and Immingham tips are usually very busy during the bank holiday weekends. Try and avoid visiting at peak times if you can.

“If you are bringing cardboard boxes, please flatten them first so they don’t fill up the skips so quickly.

“When the site is busy, people bringing cardboard with other types of waste might be asked to dispose of all the waste in the general waste skips to help keep people socially distanced.

“Remember that going to the tip is different to the way the system operated before the pandemic. We have a number of restrictions in place to keep it safe for visitors and staff, including limiting the number of vehicles on site.

“Please be patient. Respect other visitors and site staff.”

Covid-19 restrictions at the recycling centres include visiting only once per day, staying two metres apart from others and wearing a mask.

There must also be a maximum of two people in one vehicle at a time and a maximum of four vehicles on the site at one time. Assistance will also not be given by site attendants, and visitors to the centre are advised to only bring waste that they are able to handle themselves.

If you’re planning on taking a mattress to the site this bank holiday weekend, you must book a slot before 4pm today on 01472 326288.

Those who bring a mattress without first making a booking will be turned away.

If you’re making a visit to the tip in a commercial type vehicle or trailer or a large vehicle, you must first complete this form.
