Annie Fannie is back this December starring in Dick Whittington!

Due to the pandemic, Dick Whittington, which was due to run December 2020 at The Baths Hall was postponed.

But don’t worry folks Annie Fannie is back with her knickers firmly on, we think, and will be returning with the rescheduled shows this December!

Shows will take place between 8 and 31 December 2021 and The Baths Hall said they have already sold over 6,000 tickets!

Scunthorpe’s well loved Dame is as excited as we are to see pantomime return to the stage this year!

Dick Whittington tells a story of poor boy from Gloucestershire who walked to London to seek his fortune. He found work in the house of a rich merchant Fitzwarren, and fell in love with Fitzwarren’s daughter, Alice. Dick had a cat to keep down the mice in the attic where he slept.

The previous pantomime was Aladdin which took place in 2019 at the Baths Hall.

Over the years, Annie, played by Darren Johnson, has become a legendary figure in Scunthorpe.

Darren spoke to GI and said “I’m already used to having to wait a whole year between Pantomimes but as you can imagine, this year I’m more excited than ever to get back on stage.”

“Last Christmas was the first Christmas I’d had at home with my family for 32 years and I have to be honest, I really did enjoy it. But now I can’t wait to get back! The script is written, Annie Fanny’s costumes are out of storage, her bloomers have been fumigated and the gussets reinforced.

He added “I can’t wait to get back in the rehearsal room with the team to put together another traditional family pantomime, my 15th in Scunthorpe.

“The whole world is a different place because of the pandemic but I hope that for a couple of hours at Christmas, we can all come together and escape into a word of fun, laughter and happy ever after”
