Man hospitalised after two-van collision

A man has been hospitalised with ‘serious injuries’ following a two-van crash on the B1396, Sanderson’s Bank, Westwoodside.

The incident occurred on Sunday 2 May 2021 at around 5:15pm, when a silver van and a white and blue van collided.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the situation. It reopened at around midnight.

The driver of one vehicle was airlifted to hospital where he remains.

Two people from the other vehicle – a man and a young girl – were also taken to hospital. Their condition is currently unknown.

Police have now launched an appeal for information.

In a statement released yesterday, a Humberside Police spokesperson said:

“Officers are appealing for witnesses to a two vehicle collision, which occurred on Sunday 2 May 2021, at 5:15pm, on Sanderson’s Bank, Westwoodside.
“It was reported that two vans collided, one being a silver van and the other being a white and blue coloured van.
“If you saw the collision, or have dash cam footage, please call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 415 of 2 May 2021.”

Humberside Fire and Rescue added:

“RTC involving a van and a car. Male driver in van rapidly extricated from vehicle and transported into awaiting air ambulance.

“Adult male and female teenager assisted from car and transported to hospital by ambulance.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage is urged to contact Humberside Police via the non-emergency number 101 quoting log 415 of 2 May 2021.
