Attempted murder investigation begins in Doncaster

South Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation following a firearms incident in the Cantley area of Doncaster this morning, Thursday 6 May.

Cantley residents began reporting a heavy police presence in the Aldesworth Road and Cantley Park area just after 11:15.
Witnesses said they had seen armed police and helicopters.
The force has now confirmed having attended Aldesworth Road following a suspected firearms discharge.
A short time later, a 30-year-old man attended Doncaster Royal Infirmary with suspected gunshot wounds.
He remains in a serious but stable condition.
Four people, a 15 year old boy and three men aged 18, 27 and 52 have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
They remain in custody at this time.
Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Henderson said:
“We are currently treating this incident as a targeted attack and we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.
“I do however understand that there will be concern within the local community and I would like to reassure people that our enquiries are moving quickly.
“You may see an increased police presence, including armed response officers in Cantley for the rest of the day and into this evening, they are they for you. Please do speak to them if you have any concerns or questions.”
