The Baths Hall have vaccine availability this week

The NHS North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group are urging more people to come forward for their vaccine.

They released a statement saying ‘have you booked your COVID-19 vaccination at The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe yet? We have availability for the rest of this week.’

If you’re aged 40 or over, or if you turn 40 before 1 July, you can book your first dose slot by visiting www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination

Anyone within 45 minutes’ drive from the site, including those living in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, are eligible for vaccinations at the site in Scunthorpe.

Dr Satpal Shekhawat, the Medical Director NHS North Lincolnshire CCG, said: “The amount of vaccines areas are given can be unpredictable. The Baths Hall mass vaccination site has previously had a capacity of around 500 a day, but thanks to the latest supply, we expect it to be more than 1000 soon.

“The North Lincolnshire vaccination programme has gone very well, letting us get back to normal in future.

“We’ve made an effort to reach reluctant groups in the last month, with sessions at mosques, temples and deprived areas, and this has had a big impact.

“We’ve seen the take-up rates increase from around 80 per cent in some Scunthorpe wards to more than 90.

“Considering we’ve never reached more than 60 per cent for flu vaccines, this is truly outstanding.

“Of course, not everyone is medically able to have the vaccine due to health factors, but reaching so much of the population is very positive.”

Over 50 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across the UK, with over a quarter of adults having received both doses.

Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock said “The vaccine is our way out of this pandemic and the rollout had been a huge national effort. I want to pay tribute to the heroic NHS staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to deliver vaccines in every corner of the United Kingdom at a phenomenal pace.

“We are on track to offer a jab to all adults by the end of July but our work is not over yet. We are now inviting everyone over 40 to get their jab. I had mine last week – it’s simple and easy and I encourage everyone else who is eligible to get the jab.”
