Man charged following ‘attempted murder’ in Doncaster

A man has been charged with attempted murder after an investigation into a firearms incident began last Thursday, 6 May.

Residents began reporting a heavy police presence in the Aldesworth Road and Cantley Park area just after 11:15 – witnesses said they had seen armed police and helicopters.
A short time later, a 30-year-old man attended Doncaster Royal Infirmary with suspected gunshot wounds.
He remains in a serious but stable condition.
South Yorkshire Police later confirmed that four people, a 15 year old boy and three men aged 18, 27 and 52 had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Speaking at the time, Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Henderson said:
“We are currently treating this incident as a targeted attack and we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.
“I do however understand that there will be concern within the local community and I would like to reassure people that our enquiries are moving quickly.
“You may see an increased police presence, including armed response officers in Cantley for the rest of the day and into this evening, they are they for you. Please do speak to them if you have any concerns or questions.”
The force has now confirmed that Graham Del Mar, 52, of Aldesworth Road, has been charged with attempted murder and firearms offences.

Det Ch Insp Jamie Henderson said:

“I do however understand there will be concern within the local community and I would like to reassure people that our inquiries are moving quickly.”

A 15-year-old boy and two men aged 18 and 27, who were arrested following the incident have been released under investigation.
The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.
