Excitement as Cleethorpes Rugby Club open new venue Wilton Fields at former Lucarly’s
On Monday 17 May, Cleethorpes Rugby Club will open the jam-packed new venue Wilton Fields to the public at the former site of popular Lucarly’s.
Wilton Fields will offer food, drink, pool and snooker tables, darts boards and a function room for events.
There will also be a family and kitchen area and outdoor seating area, as well as six Sky televisions across the venue to stream an array of different sports matches to visitors.
Kev Davidson, Chairman of Cleethorpes Rugby Club, said: “The opportunity arose to move back down here so we were able to acquire a 30-year lease. We’re a community-based club. It’s non-profit, so any surplus is pushed back into the community and it allows us to increase the player base.”
He also confirmed that Stone Oven Pizza Company have moved into the premises, which will be expanded to a sports bar and grill next month.
Kev added: “Long-term, we want to expand. We want to bring it back to what it was in its former years, for people to recognise it for rugby and entertainment.
“We want to welcome shows and live bands so we want to apply for an arts grant for that. We want to welcome snooker, pool and darts teams down. We are Cleethorpes Rugby Club but we own 100 percent of Wilton Fields.”
The new venue will be open to the public from Monday.
