Elderly man targeted in Sutton-on-Hull robbery

Humberside Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after an elderly man was targeted in a street robbery on Saturday.

It is reported that on Saturday 15 May at around 7.30pm, the victim, a man in his 60s, was close to a roundabout between Honiton Road and Holwell Road, Hull, when a man and a woman approached him.
He was knocked him to the ground, before cigarettes and money were stolen from his pockets.
The victim, who uses a walking stick, was left shaken by the incident.
He has described the male suspect as wearing a dark coloured top, and light-coloured bottoms.
The woman is said to have been wearing a light-coloured top and dark coloured bottom.
A 43-year-old man and a 38-old-woman arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with this incident.
However, officers investigating this incident are still appealing for witnesses, including several specific people who they believe may hold vital information, to come forward.
According to reports, two vehicles stoped in the area during the incident.
The first was a light-coloured Volvo estate. The driver reversed back to where the incident took place and spoke to the male suspect.
The second vehicle was a white car, possibly a Vauxhall Astra.
Two girls, and later a man dressed in dark clothing on a push bike also went past.
Speaking yesterday, a spokesperson for Humberside Police said:
“Were you in the area at around 7.30pm yesterday evening? Do you have information that may help our investigation? Please contact 101 quoting log 157 of 16 May 2021”
Both suspects remain in police custody.
