Man charged following collision in Doncaster

A man has been charged following a police pursuit and collision in Doncaster in the early hours of Tuesday 18 May.

Damien Blackburn, 28, of South Street, Highfields, was arrested following the collision which took place shortly after midnight.

South Yorkshire Police have now confirmed that he has been charged with dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

A police chase ensued after a white BMW reportedly failed to stop in York Road.

The driver is then said to have travelled through Woodlands, before police deployed tactical contact to bring the car to a stop on Green Lane, at the junction with Roman Ridge.

All five passengers of the vehicle were initially detained.

They were later released under investigation.

The driver, Damien Blackburn, appeared in court on Wednesday 19 May. He was bailed to next appear on 16 June.
