Locals encouraged to submit designs for Posters in the Park competition
North East Lincolnshire Council is encouraging people in the borough to submit their designs for the Posters in the Park competition.
The competition was created as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean in a bid to encourage visitors to local parks to put litter in the bin or take it home.
The top four entries will win a £50 shopping voucher and their posters will be displayed in local parks throughout the summer.
Cllr Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “People love spending time in parks and open spaces, so we’re launching this competition to encourage everyone to look after them.
“Most people put their litter in a bin or take it home, unfortunately some people have forgotten how to use a bin and insist on messing up the place.”
Cllr Ron Shepherd, portfolio holder for safer and stronger communities, added: “Litter can wash into water courses and will harm wildlife. Plastics and other litter left on beaches is harmful to marine life.
“Enter this new competition and your artwork could be used to help remind others to put litter in the bin and keep North East Lincolnshire clean. You could also win a £50 shopping voucher.”
People of all ages can apply as long as they live in North East Lincolnshire.
All they need to do is draw their design, incorporating the term ‘Put litter in a bin or take it home’, on an A4 or A3 piece of paper.
The design and the entry form must then be sent to: Posters in the Park competition, Environmental Education Team, Doughty Road Depot, Doughty Road, Grimsby DN32 0LL before 5pm on Friday 18 June 2021.
You can find the entry form here.
