Julie said ‘The inspiration of Full Circle comes from just being alive and from having space; physical space such as nature and travel, and mental space from running, yoga and any meditative activity. Lockdown helped me focus and eliminate distractions. Although I didn’t make much art at the time, I was gathering energy.

‘Cafe Indie is a great community space as it meets a need in the town for an independent creative hub of subculture, they have a decent vegan menu, there is a tangible community feel which is different from a business premises. I couldn’t think of anywhere better to hold this exhibition!

She added ‘Pop Up, Kat and Sam are an enthusiastic, dynamic team offering opportunities for artists to develop their practice. Exhibiting is an important part of the creative process, getting the work out there, letting it go and moving on, starting new work.’

Pop Up do an open exhibition every year and invite submissions. I’m planning to do an offsite art installation this summer as I am in my element doing site-specific projects. I’ll keep you informed.

Pop Up are a small artist led collective who aim to bring accessibility to the art-world for creatives and the public, with a focus on Scunthorpe.

Sophie from GI News visited the exhibition and said ‘the photos really don’t do this incredible work justice – you need to see the art in its full form and how it is situated in Cafe Indie. The detail and colours Julie has captured are amazing.’
