Man sentenced to 15 months for attempted burglary in New Waltham

A 46-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for attempted burglary in New Waltham following his appearance at Grimsby Crown Court last week.

Stephen Cleary, from Scunthorpe, broke into a property on Pemberton Drive, New Waltham to “rummage through the content of the house”.

Upon exiting the premises, he was spotted and arrested by police officers.

A statement from a Humberside Police spokesperson reads:

“A man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison following his court appearance last week.

“Stephen Cleary (46) of Frances Street, Scunthorpe was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court on Friday 4 June.

“Cleary forcibly gained entry to a property on Pemberton Drive, New Waltham. After rummaging through the content of the house and exiting the premises Cleary was spotted by eagle eyed officers and arrested.

“As a result, he will spend 15 months behind bars for attempted dwelling burglary and possession of a bladed article.

“We work hard to prevent burglary and bring offenders to justice to make our communities safer.”
