By Covid-19 parking pass for NHS and health and social workers set to be scrapped
The NHS and health and social care Covid-19 parking pass is set to end on Monday 21 June in North East Lincolnshire, it has been confirmed.
The concession, backed by the Government, was introduced at the start of the pandemic to support key workers – but it will now no longer be accepted in North East Lincolnshire, with normal parking restrictions applying once again.
Following the change, there will also be a full re-instatement for civil enforcement activity in the borough.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “This parking concession was always a temporary measure and in line with national guidance and other local authorities, we are now ending the concession in North East Lincolnshire.
“As a local authority, we have a duty to ensure that the roads keep moving and parking is open and available for use. It is essential our road network is available for all.
“We appreciate the impact this will have on our local NHS and health & social care workforce and in an effort to avoid them receiving a penalty charge notice, our civil enforcement officers will be issuing warning notices on vehicles displaying the pass for two weeks after Monday 21 June as they adjust to the parking changes.”
To support the transition from Monday 21 June, warning slips will be placed on vehicles displaying the concession for up to two weeks after enforcement resumes.
From Monday 5 July, vehicles continuing to display the parking concession pass will risk receiving a penalty charge notice.
